The eighth class of the Virginia Wesleyan College Athletic Hall of Fame was featured in the on Jan. 14. The six new members will be inducted during a special ceremony on Feb. 13. Calling it "a statement with an exclamation point that the sciences have arrived at Virginia Wesleyan," the profiled the College's forthcoming Greer Environmental Sciences Center on Jan. 18. Volunteers from VWC joined Western Bayside Community United, the Virginia Beach Police Department and Bayside High School on Jan. 18 for a Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service event focused on literacy and creating positive relationships between police officers and youth in the Western Bayside area of Virginia Beach. The event was featured in the . On Jan. 27, announced Virginia Wesleyan College's 2016 Commencement Speaker, Director of the Peace Corps . The featured Coach Dave Macedo on Jan. 27 after the College's longtime men's basketball coach was honored as the Metropolitan Person of the Year and presented with the Tom Ferguson Memorial Award from the Norfolk Sports Club.

Kirk Kincannon (1980), the Director of Fairfax County Park Authority, has been elected as a Fellow to the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration
 
Paul C. Nichols III (1980) has been named superintendent of Mecklenburg County Public Schools in Virginia.

Chris Harriman (1991),
was featured in the Virginian-Pilot on Nov. 22 for his role as director of food services at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center.
 
Rhea Vaflor (1995) was named an associate principal and the director of Lifestyle Interiors, an award-winning interior design studio, at Hickok Cole Architects. Rhea's husband, Geoffrey Wardzinski (1994), was promoted to managing editor at Advanta Medical Solutions. The couple lives in Washington, D.C. with their daughter, Sloane.
 
Holly Phaneuf Taylor (2008) has been elected to the school board in Williamsburg-James City County. 

Clergy alumnae Stephanie Kimec Parker (2008), Christa Mercer Springstead (2007), Mary Charlotte Roach Elia (2003), and Kelly Traylor Jackson (1984) participated in the Center for Sacred Music Monumental Moments Epiphany service, "Women's Christmas," on Jan. 6.
